Rhytidectomy or a face-lift is a procedure designed to restore
youthful appearance to the face and neck. As such, it will
remove many wrinkles and make those remaining much less
apparent. Extra skin is removed and the facial contour is
transformed to that of a younger person.
The Best Candidates For a Facelift: The best candidate for a
facelift is a man or woman whose face and neck have begun to
sag, but whose skin still has some elasticity and whose bone
structure is strong and well-defined. Most of the NYC Plastic
Surgeon's facelift patients are in their forties to sixties, but
facelifts can be done successfully on people in their seventies
or eighties as well.
A facelift is performed by the Manhattan Plastic Surgeon to
make you look younger and fresher, and it may enhance your self-
confidence in the process.
During your facelift consultation with the NYC Plastic Surgery,
the plastic surgeon will examine you and discuss recommendations
for the specific type of facelift to yield the best results for
your particular case. The facelift procedure is performed as an
outpatient surgery with recovery either at a specialized
overnight care center or at home, sometimes with a private duty
nurse. It is performed under general anesthesia administered by
a physician anesthesiologist to minimize discomfort during the
facelift procedure. Most of the Manhattan Plastic Surgeon's
facelift patients have very little pain following the surgery
because long-acting local anesthetic is administered as part of
the procedure. Most of the Manhattan plastic surgeon's facelift
patients return to work about 10 to 14 days after surgery. There
may be some bruising for a week or so and some swelling for a
few weeks following surgery.
